Freely downloadable GPS Waypoint data themed for UK archaeological sites.
The following datafiles contain GPS waypoints which can be loaded from your computer via serial cable to your GPS device. The files are supplied in GarTrip Text format which can be used to load the waypoints into most Garmin GPS devices.
- You should download the appropriate waypoint datafile to your computer by right-clicking and choosing “Save Link As…”.
- You should then unzip the file using a program such as WinZip
- You should download and install GarTrip
- You should connect your GPS device to your PC and ensure a connection can be made. See GarTrip’s documentation for more details on how to do this
- Once you have ensured that a connection can be made, open the waypoint datafile as a file of type “Garmin Text .txt”. This should load the waypoints into GarTrip. If it flags that two waypoints are at the same location, check the “Use both Waypoints” option and also the “No Further Prompts” box.
- Now, select the menu option “Garmin | Write” which write the waypoints to your GPS device.
When completed, you should be able to simply choose any waypoint to navigate to!
